#TBT - What's On My Walls

 It's Throw-back Thursday --- Cross Stitch Edition

What's on my walls.

Bent Creek - Rise and Shine
This used to hang in my Orlando kitchen.
Now it is in my kitchen here.

This might also be a Bent Creek,
although I cannot find it on their website.

This is on the steps up to the dining room/kitchen.
It stays out all year long.
I stitched this one when we lived in Orlando.

This one is an ode to our home.
It was the first thing I stitched in our current house.
The trees are our red maple and our dogwood and
I modified the house in the pattern to look more like our house.
It even has the chimney marker
and the front door is the color of our front door.
2018 is the year we moved in.

These next two I stitched back in the mid-80's.
She is Shepherd's Bush Herb Gatherer.

He is Shepherd's Bush Wool Gatherer.
They hang facing each other on each side of the stairs to the dining room.
They had a crap-ton of beading.

My largest cross stitch to date.
Quaker Tiles 4th of July by The Vivsters.
I love the finished piece.
I hated the chart ...... SO.MANY.MISTAKES
I came to realize it was a computer generated pattern
and was obviously GIGO --- Garbage In/Garbage Out

However ..........I managed to figure out most of the errors
and when I couldn't just created my own tile pattern.

The most difficult piece I ever stitched.
This is Teresa Wentzler's Wizard's Castle.
Yes .... when I stitched it the name was WIZARD'S Castle and I wasn't the least bit offended.

It had blended threads. I added metallics,
because the pattern wasn't difficult enough.

It is the project I am most proud of.
Again, stitched in the 80's when I still had loads of patience.

He stands on the mantel with his little lizard-y friend who has big dreams.
The little lizard was a gift from a friend.

My most recent finish ---  A Schwenkfelder Sampler
Susanna Kriebel
Oh Lordy ....where do I start.
This woman must have been a hot mess back in 1852.

I hope she could cook,
'cause she sure couldn't stitch.

She even spelled her own name wrong.

I did it because of the year.

I don't love it. When we eventually move I'm pretty sure this will be left behind.
For now --- it hangs in the living room,
in a corner,
            in the dark. πŸ˜‰πŸ˜

This was stitched for my in-laws anniversary.
It came back to me when my father-in-law passed in 2020.

It was the first piece I stitched on raw linen.
It has its challenges, but it is one of my favorite types of fabric.
I just love the look.

It is on the bookshelf in the living room along with some family pictures.

Schoolhouse Sampler by Stone Street Stitchworks.
Modified with initials of Steve, CHS for Cedar Hill School, my initials and the year
the schoolhouse was built.

I also replaced the bird in the bottom tree motif with a cat,
because every home needs a cat.

I also changed up colors to make it less monochrome.

It hangs in the upstairs hallway.

324 by Works by ABC
Very colorful --- fun to stitch for sure.
It hangs in the hall outside the second bedroom.

Please excuse the wonky angle ---- the windows were creating a glare.
I stitched this back in 2014 obviously.
It hangs in the second bedroom/guest room/my craft room

I don't usually stitch snarky type things, but this one spoke to me.
Patty Polk liked to READ much more,
but I changed it to knit because that is what she SHOULD have been doing.

So, there you have it. Every stitched piece I have hanging. I do have some seasonal stitches that come out for Fall, Halloween, and Christmas. I'll post them then.

Hope y'all are having a very stitchy or knitty Thursday

or

a very readful Thursday if you must.
